Ugo Pagallo a former lawyer and current professor of Jurisprudence at the Department of Law, University of Turin (Italy), he is author of ten monographs, numerous essays in scholarly journals and book chapters, chief editor of the Digitalica series published by Giappichelli in Turin and co-editor of the AICOL series by Springer. Member of the European RPAS Steering Group (2011-2012), of the Group of Experts for the Onlife Initiative set up by the European Commission (2012-2013), of the Ethical Committee of the CAPER project, supported through the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (2013-2014), and Expert for the evaluation of proposals in the Horizon 2020 robotics program (2015), he is Faculty Fellow at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London, U.K. (2013, 2008); Vice-President of the Italian Association of Legal Informatics, NEXA Fellow at the Center for Internet & Society at the Politecnico of Turin, and is now collaborating with the Joint International Doctoral (PhD) degree in Law, Science and Technology, part of the EU’s Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorates (EMJDs). His main interests are Artificial Intelligence & law, network theory, robotics, and information technology law (specially data protection law and copyright).
