The 14th Law Schools Global League (LSGL) Summer School was hosted by Queen’s University Belfast School of Law from 20-31 July 2026, welcoming 35 students from LSGL member schools across the globe for two weeks of academic exchange and international collaboration.
Held under the theme “Legal Institutions in Times of Change,” the Summer School explored how law and legal institutions are responding to technological innovation, evolving societal expectations, and changing global challenges. Through an interdisciplinary program taught by faculty from across the LSGL network, students engaged with contemporary legal issues while learning alongside peers from diverse jurisdictions and legal traditions.
The academic program featured four courses:
- Contracting in the Platform Age: Skills for Lawyering in Automated and AI-Enabled Markets, taught by Dr Liam Sunner (Queen’s University Belfast) and Lucinda Kok (University of Pretoria).
- Administrative Justice in Times of Change, taught by Professor Chantal Bostock (UNSW Sydney) and Dr Sonam Gordhan (King’s College London).
- AI and Human Rights, taught by Professor Yvonne McDermott Rees (Queen’s University Belfast) and Professor Jessica Peake (UCLA School of Law).
- Designing the Futures We Want: Law, Work and Institutions, taught by Professor Marina Feferbaum (FGV São Paulo) and Professor Natalia Ramírez Bustamante (Universidad de los Andes).
Beyond the classroom, the Summer School provided participants with opportunities to exchange ideas, build lasting international networks, and experience the collaborative spirit that lies at the heart of the Law Schools Global League.
