The Law Schools Global League (LSGL) Annual General Assembly 2026 brought together Deans, faculty members and representatives from LSGL member institutions at Queen’s University Belfast for several days of dialogue, collaboration and strategic planning on the future of global legal education.

The Assembly was opened by LSGL Co-Presidents Soledad Atienza Becerril and Eleonora Lozano Rodríguez, together with LSGL Secretary Esra Özcan and Research Director Veronica Ruiz Abou-Nigm, who reflected on the League’s achievements over the past year and shared updates on its ongoing initiatives and strategic priorities.

Throughout the Assembly, participants engaged in discussions on the evolving role of legal education in a rapidly changing world. Conversations focused on the opportunities and challenges created by technological innovation, artificial intelligence and broader societal developments, while exploring how law schools can continue to prepare future lawyers for an increasingly interconnected and dynamic profession.

The program also featured distinguished guest speakers who offered valuable perspectives from the judiciary, legal practice, law reform and the financial sector. We were honored to welcome Dame The Honourable Madam Justice Denise McBride DBE, Professor Lisa Webley (Law Commissioner), Caoimhe Powell (Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer), and Patricia Black (Davy), whose contributions enriched the discussions and inspired further reflection.

A highlight of this year’s Assembly was the continued progress of the League’s strategic initiatives, including discussions on the LSGL Strategic Action Plan 2026–2030 and the AI and the Future of Legal Education Initiative, reinforcing the League’s shared commitment to innovation, collaboration and excellence in legal education.

Beyond the formal program, the Assembly once again demonstrated the unique spirit of the LSGL community. The open exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices continues to strengthen partnerships across member institutions and foster new opportunities for research, teaching and student engagement.

The League extends its sincere gratitude to Dean Warren Barr, Professor Richard Collins, Dean of Internationalization and the entire team at Queen’s University Belfast School of Law for their outstanding hospitality and exceptional organization. Their warm welcome provided the ideal environment for productive discussions, renewed collaborations and a memorable gathering.

As the Assembly concluded, participants returned to their institutions with new ideas, stronger partnerships and a renewed commitment to advancing global legal education together. We look forward to building on this momentum throughout the coming year and to gathering again at the next LSGL General Assembly.
