For over 75 years, ITAM has strived to make higher education a critical factor in the social and economic development of Mexico. It is a private, nonprofit, non-religious university ranked amongst the top universities in Mexico and Latin America. ITAM´S mission has been to provide a comprehensive education to train professionals who will seek greater justice, greater freedom, and greater prosperity for all citizens.

To ensure the highest possible quality of teaching and research, all academic activities are carried out through 14 academic departments that are grouped into five academic divisions. ITAM’s Department of Law is part of the Division of Social Sciences and Law. Within this Department, two academic programs are currently offered: the undergraduate Law Program and the Master’s in Human Rights and Guarantees.

ITAM´s Law Program

The undergraduate Law Program at ITAM is designed for students who want to act as agents of social transformation. This program aims to provide each student with a unique combination of different skills to address people’s legal needs and current social problems in an effective way. Here, students develop abilities to solve conflicts and to think in a critical and structured way. Our approach to legal education is dynamic, international, and interdisciplinary.

Master’s in Human Rights and Guarantees

The Master’s in Human Rights and Guarantees is an initiative aimed at legal professionals, government and judicial functionaries, and civil society involved in the protection of human rights. This program provides each student with theoretical and methodological tools for the protection of human rights both at the national and international levels. The duration of the program is two semesters and a summer. A double degree with the American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) is offered.
