About Business and Law Research Group

The LSGL Business and Law Group is a working group that provides research opportunities in many areas of private law such as the law of obligations, international trade law, competition law and international private law. Our group has members that have knowledge of various different jurisdictions, which allows the group to deliver truly global work. Since its formation, the working group has been able to do research on a variety of topics including foreign direct investment, investment and development, regulation and investment in the energy sector. Our Law and Business Group chooses one research question every year to be presented at the annual academic meeting of the League. Our research topics try to combine different areas of law adopting a comparative approach. Furthermore our group has always displayed an interdisciplinary approach thanks to our members’ expertise in different fields.  Law and Business group aims to produce co-authored research papers that to improve our members research capacity emphasizing the relevance and importance of global and comparative research in legal studies.

Full professor at FGV since 1969, Visiting Scholar at Michigan State University (1981), Editor in Chief of the Business Administration Journal of FGV (1975/77), Associate Dean for Continuing Education Program at FGV São Paulo Business School (1978/80), Chairman of FGV Marketing Department (1999/2003), Vice Dean for Financial and Administrative Affairs at FGV São Paulo Business School (1980/83), Vice Dean for Financial and Administrative Affairs at FGV São Paulo Law School since 2003. Business consultant in marketing, finance, organization and strategic planning, since 1969. Vice President of Finance at VASP Brazilian Airlines (1983/87), President and CEO of the São Paulo Subway System – METRO (1995/99), Vice President for Latin America at the International Union of Public Transportation – UITP (1997/99), Chairman of the Latin American Moot Corp Competition (2001/2006) Author of four business games in the area of business, marketing and law office management. Published several articles in specialized journals in Brazil. Head of the Group of Study on Anticorruption at FGV São Paulo Law School.
